Web Gmail Adds the ‘Undo Send’ Option

gmail2

Today, Google has announced the addition of the Undo Send option to the web version of Gmail. As the name suggests, this long-requested feature allows the sender to set a given time period after sending an email, during which they can cancel the message and stop it reaching any of its intended recipients. Notably it has not made its way to the Android app as yet.

Undo Send

This is a fantastic feature for the more clumsy user like myself and one that could definitely help avoid some pretty dire situations, although technically it is nothing new. Google’s Gmail replacement app Inbox has had this functionality for over a month already, through the app or browser, and those with access to Google Labs will have already familiarized themselves too. You can access the new option through Gmail’s settings, under the general tab, where you’re presented with 4 different lengths of time to choose from. The undo prompt appears once you’ve already sent an email, and brings you straight back to the editing screen to correct your mistake.
