OnePlus Releases OxygenOS 3.5 Community Build for the OnePlus 3

One of the complaints with OnePlus devices is how the released phones are often neglected in terms of software. Even though the devices have strong third-party developer communities behind them, the love they receive from the OEM is sometimes too little, too late.

But things look like they are changing. OnePlus is working to fix things on this end, as it has now released another update to the OnePlus 3. This update comes us to in the form of a community build of OxygenOS 3.5. This is not Android Nougat, in case you got too excited, but it does come with a fair few additions.

  • Several UI improvements
  • New and improved OnePlus apps, including clock, weather, and file manager
  • Improved camera software
  • More robust settings and customization features

But, one thing to note — this is a community build. This means this is still not fit for usage for the average public. You can expect some bugs to exist, and a few have already been noted as below:

A lot of the mainstream features are missing, but since this is not a final, consumer-ready build, we can’t really blame them. It’s good that they decided to let users early on in the update action. The final release build will be expected once bugs are ironed out for the most part.

For installation instructions, refer to the forum post (simple ADB sideload, back up your data!). Additionally, post feedback to OnePlus directly on that thread or on this accompanying form for UX or for bugs . Further, you can head on over to our forums for discussions among users as well. Keep in mind the download link will be taken down once the company weighs enough feedback, but you will likely find a download mirror in the XDA subforums either way.
