Add a Brightness Slider to your Status Bar with the “Display Brightness” App

There are millions of applications available in the Google Play Store, so finding new and interesting applications can be an overwhelming task. Adding on to that fact, we also have to consider that many useful applications are not available through the Google Play Store. There’s also our own XDA Apps & Games forum, XDA Labs, F-Droid, and Amazon’s App Store. Within the Amazon App Store is an old, but still useful application called Display brightness which brings one of the more popular custom ROM features to any Android device – a brightness slider that gives you the ability to control the brightness by sliding your finger left/right on the status bar.

The application creates a customizable bar on the top of the screen, with or without the status bar being present. By swiping the bar left or right, you can decrease or increase the screen’s brightness. The majority of stock software does not offer any such feature, but it wouldn’t be so pervasive in the custom ROM community if it wasn’t such a highly sought after feature. Better yet, this application does not require root access and works flawlessly on most Android versions. You can even have it auto start it after a reboot.

RuberSoft’s Display brightness is completely free to download. The easiest way to get the application is by installing the Amazon Underground app to access the Amazon App Store. You can find more information about the app on its Amazon landing page at the link down below.

Do note that the application is not guaranteed to work on all devices, and on Mishaal’s Huawei Mate 9 running Android 7.0 Nougat the application had a few force closures while changing the settings. However, if it does work for you as advertised, we hope that you find this to be a useful addition to your application list.
