ElementalX Custom Kernel is Now Available for the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

Thanks in part to the higher price of the Google Pixel line, the polish of the stock software, and compelling alternatives, development on the Pixel smartphones has been slower compared to the Nexus phones. That doesn’t mean that custom development on Pixel phones is dead, however. Fans of the ElementalX custom kernel from XDA Recognized Developer flar2 can rejoice as it has been released for both second generation Pixel phones.

The feature set for both of these devices is almost identical, but the 2 XL doesn’t have the High Brightness Mode (HBM).

Pixel 2 ElementalX Features

  • High Brightness Mode (HBM)
  • Advanced color control (KCAL)
  • Wake gestures (S2W & DT2W)
  • Sweep2sleep
  • CFQ, noop, deadline, FIOPS, SIO, BFQ, and zen i/o schedulers
  • NTFS r/w support
  • Option to disable fsync
  • Block wakelocks

If you are interested in flashing the ElementalX kernel, you’ll first need to unlock your bootloader and flash TWRP onto it. You can grab TWRP from the official TWRP website for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
