Huawei MediaPad M5 8″ and 10″ Models Leak with Pricing Info

Back at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show, Huawei held a press event to announce new models of the Huawei Watch, a gold version of the Nexus 6P, and a new tablet called the MediaPad M2. The two new smartwatches and new Nexus 6P model arguably stole the show, but the MediaPad M2 was notable for being one of the few higher-quality Android tablets announced that year. Huawei has been working on the successor — the MediaPad M5 — for quite some time now, and newly leaked information on Wednesday revealed the specs and pricing information.

The new details this week came from Roland Quandt of WinFuture, who revealed that there will be three variants of MediaPad M5 in different sizes. The tablet will come in an 8-inch model and two 10-inch variants, one of which will ship in a powerful “Pro” configuration.

First up is the Huawei MediaPad M5 8, codename “Schubert” (which carries the model number SHT-xxx). This smaller tablet will have 4GB of RAM paired with 32GB of internal storage, and will cost about €329 ($407) for the Wi-Fi version or about €380 ($470) for the LTE option.

In the middle of the pack is the Huawei MediaPad M5 10, codename “Cameron” (CMR-xxx). It, too, will have 4GB of RAM paired with 32GB of internal storage — besides pricing, the only difference between it and Schubert is the larger display. This 10-inch tablet will cost about €379 ($468) for the Wi-Fi version or €420 ($519) for the LTE model.

Wrapping up the trio of Huawei tablets is the MediaPad M5 10 Pro, codenamed “Cameron Pro”. It has 4GB of RAM, but comes equipped with 64GB of internal storage instead of the other two models’ 32GB. The MediaPad M5 10 Pro will also support Huawei’s M-Pen stylus, and will be available with LTE (not Wi-Fi) for a price of around €520 ($643).

Finally, it’s possible that the new MediaPad M5 tablets will only be available in one color — gray — but that’s unclear at this time.
