ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro Android Oreo update now available

Last year, ASUS launched the ZenFone 4 lineup, which included the ZenFone 4, the flagship ZenFone 4 Pro, and the battery-focused ZenFone Max. The phones shipped with ZenUI on top of Android Nougat. The company stated that the ZenFone 4 would receive its Android Oreo update in December, and the update started to roll-out in the same month. It was later discovered that the Android Oreo update for the ZenFone 4 contained Project Treble support without a vendor partition.

Now, the high-end ZenFone 4 Pro (ZS551KL) has also started to receive its Android Oreo OTA update. ASUS mentions that it will take about one week for the system to complete the auto push, and if users don’t receive the auto prompt, they are advised to go to Settings > About > System Update to update manually.

The Android Oreo update for the ZenFone 4 Pro brings improvement in power consumption, according to ASUS. The company has also added a “long screenshot” function, and has substituted the Cast function for the “PlayTo” function. The launcher now has a swipe up to all apps gesture, and the “all apps” icon can now be changed.

The update also brings a “more friendly setting UI design”, and the standard Oreo features such as notification channels and snoozingpicture-in-picture mode, support for the Autofill Frameworkbetter background app and service limitations for improved memory performance/battery, smart text selection, adaptive icons, notification dots, and more.
